It’s on Swedish ice where Mazda opened the 2011season. After the success obtained last year with MX-5 Open Race, Mazda organized a new event principally created for the journalists, TV fans and readers. It took place on February 22nd and 23rd 2011 on Lake Kallsjön in the mid-west of Östersund region. The technical program was shared out in two specific training sessions: a qualifying session to determine the pole and starting positions and a 4-hour race divided into two rounds where the team that has made the most laps has won the contest!
26 the nations represented, 20 the Mazda’s MX-5 in snow trim and 120 the drivers who competed this "polar" competition, where Mazda MX-5 did not disappoint any expectation: the world's best selling spider is reconfirmed to be a sports car "thoroughbred" rifting on a 5 km track!
The podium was conquered by Russia, while the silver medal went to Australia and the bronze to Belgium. Even if Italy fought until the end, what we brought home is the beautiful memory of four fantastic days (from February 21st to 24th 2011) that our partner, Andrea Moretti, spent with the Italian team. Andrea shared with "his" Team and with us a unique experience that he wanted to share with us through an exciting story and a photo reportage provided to Mazda Motor Italy, its Sales Network and RIM (Registry Mazda MX-5).
Andrea’s participation to this unexpected experience is a gift that only his MX-5 could give him. He’s the living proof that having a Mazda "over top" model opens the door to a lot of privileges that are standard when purchasing this amazing model of Mazda range. It doesn’t matter if it’s new or used: go to the website www.mx5.it, and register it. From that moment on, all news, initiatives, exclusive events reserved for those who drive this little gem (which recently celebrated the 900,000 units produced) will reach the inbox of the registration holder. It’s by responding to our appeal, that Andrea subjected us his sketches that have made the difference among 19 others and made him earn a front row seat for the race!
